Hello everyone,
My name is Margaret ( or Nan to my grandchildren ) and during my many years of entertaining children, for one reason or another, I have been called upon many times to “tell us a story nan”. I have 3 children myself, all well and truly grown up, and between them they have blessed us with 8 grandchildren. Some of those are now grown and raising families of their own and so far we have 6 great grandchildren.
During those many years I have been called upon to mind children of all ages while Mum and Dad have had various work-related commitments and those times have truly been joyous. There is nothing quite like the imagination of a youngster and to watch their personalities and imaginations grow throughout the years is wonderful. To sit in front of the fire on a chilly night and share a good story was fun for me and the kids all thought it was a treat.
There is only so many times you can tell the same story so, when all the favorites had been worn out, I began to wing it and the results were usually taken very well. As a result, I have put pen to paper on numerous occasions after the kids were tucked in or picked up and scribbled down the basics of what we had gone over on that night. What I have posted on this website is the slightly refined versions of those scribblings. None of these stories are meant to be of a professional quality, I have merely put my ducks in a row as I would have when telling the stories to the little ones.
Some of these stories were requested several times, so I hope your little ones get as much enjoyment from them as ours have. None of these stories are very long but kids seem to prefer to listen to a couple of short stories over 1 big long drawn-out affair, and the whole point was to give them what they want.
None of these stories have ever been published but anything on this site is subject to copyright and therefor I ask that everybody respect my rights as owner of these original works. All original documents are dated, signed and witnessed and kept under lock and key. You may print them out for ease of reading but please do not send them in to publishers, competitions, article sites or any other file-share avenues.
Thank you
Margaret Brennan.
